You’re Making Coffee Wrong!

I don’t know about you, but I love me some coffee!

Coffee is amazing for many reasons.

Many of us drink it for its amazing ability to shift us into the next gear during the morning, increase our focus & work productivity and give us that extra boost before a workout or we may even just like the flavor and aroma.

But are you getting the most out of your coffee? Chances are you’re not.

Making coffee with milk and sugar or loaded with artificial creamers, flavors and syrups (yuck) is destroying your magical and amazing coffee! It ruins your caffeine buzz and your energy levels for the rest of the day. Making your coffee this way leads to jitters,  major energy crashes and headaches because of the sugar rush and artificial flavoring.

If you didn’t already know, you should… sugar is one of your worst enemy’s. Adding a small amount to your coffee every morning might seem harmless in the moment but let me put this into perspective for you: About 35 tablespoons of sugar equals about 1 pound. If you put 1 tablespoon of sugar into your coffee every morning for a month you are consuming almost 1 pound of sugar. Keep that up all year and its almost 12 pounds of pure sugar every year! NOT GOOD.

Consuming excess sugar leads to many problems which requires an entire post in itself to explain. But a giant downside of eating too much sugar is that it will make you fat. If you are someone who is trying to lose weight then you better be cutting sugar out of your diet, even in your coffee.

Instead of loading your coffee with sugar, milk, artificial creamers, flavors and syrups…

Load it with fats, salts and spice! I know this sounds weird but trust me… it is so much better.

Using fat in your coffee helps create a steady stream of energy without the jitters and crash. Fats are more dense forms of energy that are sustained for longer periods of time and keep you satiated.

The fat sources I recommend would be MCT oil (medium chain triglycerides) or organic grass-fed butter or coconut oil. All are great options and I usually alternate every day.

Add a little Himalayan pink salt to this bad boy to fuel your cells along with a dash of cinnamon for some spice & texture and your coffee just went from a mediocre energy buzz that crashes, to a long lasting mental clarity booster.

Another quick and easy way to make your coffee even more amazing is to give it a quick blend in your blender or magic bullet. It gives the coffee a creamy light texture and takes the bite out of the coffee, give it a try!

Also, its always good to drink water with your coffee to fight off dehydration. Never neglect water!
